A significant change on the travel map: from the end of October, airBaltic will launch direct flights from Palanga to sunny Tenerife. This is news that will particularly delight residents of western Lithuania and anyone looking for more convenient ways to reach warmer climes during the cold season.

More convenient travel without additional stopovers

Until now, reaching Tenerife usually meant travelling via major European airports – with stopovers, longer waiting times and often greater fatigue. The new route from Palanga avoids these inconveniences and offers the opportunity to travel directly from the coastal region.
This is particularly relevant not only for the Klaipėda region, but also for anyone who values their time and convenience. A shorter journey means more energy on arrival and less stress before departure.

Why Tenerife in particular?

Tenerife has long been one of the most popular winter holiday destinations in Europe. This Canary Island attracts visitors not only with its mild climate but also with its stunning natural beauty. Even in November or December, you can enjoy temperatures of +20–25°C here, making it a great alternative to the gloomy Baltic weather.
The island’s landscape is incredibly diverse: from black volcanic sand beaches to mountains and national parks. One of the most visited attractions is Teide National Park, home to Spain’s highest mountain. It is a place well worth visiting, even for a short break.
As well as its natural beauty, Tenerife offers a well-developed tourism infrastructure: hotels to suit all budgets, restaurants, water parks and opportunities for active leisure.

Strategic importance for Palanga Airport

The new route is important not only for travellers but also for Palanga Airport itself. Direct flights to such popular holiday destinations increase the region’s appeal and contribute to its economic activity.
In recent years, airBaltic has been actively expanding its route network in the Baltic states, and this route demonstrates that attention is being paid not only to capital cities but also to regional airports. This is a step that will allow Western Lithuania to become even more integrated into the European flight map.

Who will find this route most useful?

These flights are particularly appealing to several groups of travellers. Firstly, families who want to reach a warm climate comfortably without complicated connections. Also, for couples or solo travellers looking for a short escape from the autumn or winter routine.
Furthermore, it’s a great opportunity for remote workers. Tenerife has already become a sort of hub for ‘digital nomads’, where work and leisure can be combined.

What should you know when planning your trip?

When planning your trip, it’s important to consider the season – although Tenerife’s climate is mild all year round, the winter season is particularly popular, so it’s advisable to book your tickets in advance.
It is also worth exploring the different parts of the island: the south is famous for its sunny weather and resorts, whilst the north offers greener countryside and a more authentic atmosphere.

New opportunities for easier travel

Direct flights from Palanga to Tenerife are not just a new route, but also offer greater opportunities to travel more comfortably, quickly and easily. This is a step forward for the whole region, making it even easier to reach one of Europe’s most attractive holiday destinations.
With the cold season approaching, this news becomes even more relevant – after all, sometimes the best way to escape the Lithuanian autumn or winter is simply to take to the skies and, within a few hours, find yourself where the sun is still shining.

P.S. Flights from Palanga to Tenerife are scheduled to begin on 28 October – so you can start planning your winter escape to the sun right now. The airline began selling tickets for the Palanga–Tenerife route on 24 March.
